Denarius Hawkins scored 10 points in the Goose Creek Gators’ 55-35 victory over Fort Dorchester on Friday, Jan. 10.

Goose Creek built a four-point lead after a quarter and pushed the advantage to double digits with a 16-6 run in the second quarter on the way to a 55-35 victory at No. 9 Fort Dorchester on Friday.

Shakarian Nelson led 11 Gators in the scorebooks with 11 points while Denarius Hawkins chipped in 10 points. Breon Steele added eight points.

Goose Creek (6-9) won its third straight game as the Region 7-AAAAA slate opens on Jan. 14 at Cane Bay.

Antoine Parker had 15 for Fort Dorchester, which fell to 12-3.

Fort Dorchester 33

Guard Kolia Adams scored 12 points and forward Janise Shaw contributed 11 points as the visiting Goose Creek girls edged Fort Dorchester, 46-33, in a non-region basketball game Friday.'

Aniyah Oliver and Jakara Johnson chipped in nine and eight points respectively for the Lady Gators (12-3), ranked fourth in Class 5A.

Cane Bay boys 53,

Stall 52

Malakhi Stremlow poured in 26 points and grabbed 18 rebounds as the visiting Cane Bay Cobras edged Stall, 53-52, on Friday in a non-region game.

Kaine Moses added nine points for Cane Bay.

The Cobras improved to 8-6 overall and host Goose Creek on Tuesday to begin the Region 7-AAAAA slate.

Cane Bay girls 62,

Stall 61

Four Cane Bay Lady Cobras reached double figures and visiting Cane Bay edged Stall, 62-61, in overtime on Friday.

Alaina Nettles and Briauna Abee scored 13 points apiece for Cane Bay (7-6) and Milaun Turner added 12 points. Aliana Gilmore chipped in 10 points.

Bishop England boys 68,

Hanahan 32

Aidan McCool scored 16 points to lead three Bishops in double figures as visiting No. 2 Bishop England coasted past Hanahan in the Region 7-AAA opener.

Daniel Brooks chipped in 12 and Cameron Costa 10 for the undefeated Bishops (15-0).

West Ashley 77,

Stratford 42

West Ashley cruised past Stratford High School in a non-region game on Friday, Jan. 19.

Stratford (8-7) was led by Ja'Rel Cheeseborough with 22 points and 10 rebounds and David Washington scored eight points. Telvon Coakley grabbed eight boards.
