Stratford High School’s boys and girls track and field squads brought home team titles from the Island Invitational on March 18 at Waccamaw High School.

The boys dominated their meet with 216.33 points, winning by almost 100 points over runner-up Waccamaw. The girls amassed 167.5 points, edging Waccamaw by two and a half points.

Three Stratford athletes finished first in multiple individual events. Yasmine Cook paced the Knights’ girls with victories in the high jump, triple jump and long jump. Teammate Alayah Thomas reached the top of the podium in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.

Brenden Carter led the Stratford boys with victories in the high jump and triple jump.

More winners for the Knights boys were Lance Depass (100 meters), Dysin Birch (200 meters), Chase Hoppock (3,200 meters), Lukas Kowlok (pole vault) and the 4 x 100 relay team.

Another winner for Stratford’s girls was Alexandra Hook (discus).

Also on March 18, Wando High School hosted the Mellow Mushroom Relays.

Goose Creek’s boys and girls finished first in a pair of events. The Gators’ boys won the 4 x 100 shuttle hurdle relay and the 4 x 100 relay. The Gators’ girls reached the top of the podium in the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relays.

Cane Bay’s Alaina Nettles was a double winner for the Cobras girls, finishing first in the long jump and triple jump. Another Berkeley County School District athlete to win was Jeremiah Bonano of Philip Simmons in the boys triple jump.
