All-Region 6-AAAAA volleyball nods announced

Senior Ivy Scaggs (3), a team captain, led Stratford to a runner-up finish in Region 6-AAAAA.

Region 6-AAAAA champion Wando High School swept the region’s top honors in girls volleyball.

The Warriors’ Emma Sanders earned the Player of the Year award while Wando’s Alexis Glover garnered the Coach of the Year nod. The Warriors won 33 matches and finished the region slate with a perfect, 8-0 mark.

Led by Sanders and Glover, Wando advanced to the Lower State title match in the Class AAAAA playoffs. More selections for the Warriors were Hannah Togami, Aurie Fisher and Bridley Potter.

Stratford finished second in the region, landing Ivy Scaggs and Lillian Childress on the all-region squad.

Cane Bay, Berkeley and Goose Creek placed third through fifth in the region, with each squad earning two all-region picks.

Victoria Hedges and Caroline Combs made it for the Cobras while Ava Baker and Lydia Crolley were Berkeley’s picks. Destini Johnson and Angeline Garcia Cassanova represent the Gators on the all-region team.

In boys volleyball, Dang Tran and Johnathan Beck earned all-region nods for Cane Bay while Mikal Greene and Davis Brown represent the Knights. Parker Dewell and Hunter Reed made it for the Warriors.
