The City of Goose Creek offered some statistics for 2022 and it was a busy year for the department which serves the eighth largest city in South Carolina.
Between November and January of 2022, there were 63,723 different calls for service, according to department data July was the busiest month in 2022 with 7,004 calls for service. In that same time there 393 assaults of varying degree.
Traffic officers used their blue lights for traffic stops 13,000 times in 2022. The city department reports 1,605 vehicle collisions. Also between January and November of 2022 there were 17,073 citations handed out for various crimes, along with 1,152 arrests.
The Department said the best help they get is when citizens stay proactive and report incidents or take steps to avoid them. To report suspicious activity, call 911 or make an anonymous tip by calling 843-863-5210.
City police also offers crime prevention services that includes, neighborhood crime watch, business crime watch, and the citizen check-in senior adult welfare check program.
GCPD’s webs site states it has 82 sworn officers and 30 civilian support staff serving. And the department analyzes crime and traffic collisions daily and allocate patrols and support efforts to displace and prevent criminal activity and reduce traffic collisions occurrences as well as the severity injuries sustained.
