My family and I visited Charleston for the first time several months ago. While it is a beautiful city we were disheartened to see the condition of the carriage horses there.

We have been around horses most of our lives and the horses that we saw looked overburdened, tired and depressed. We saw more than one horse struggle to pull a wagon with 14 people. I don’t know how anyone could think this is OK.

In my opinion this is a blight on your city. I have heard that this practice was stopped in other cities, and it’s time for Charleston to do the same.
