Much has been said about the Confederate battle flag in the aftermath of the tragic shooting at Emanuel AME Church.
I have no objection to lowering the flag from the Statehouse grounds. However, to preserve our history on the grounds where scars of the war still remain, the flag of the Confederacy, the Stars and Bars, should replace the battle flag. The federal government flies the flag of the Confederate States of America on the grounds of the two national parks on our harbor — Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie. I have not heard any complaints about that.
