Our country is very fortunate to have many heroes who have displayed their love of freedom by their bravery and service.

It offends me when someone tries to denigrate one of these fine citizens. I am getting closer to my 90th birthday, a veteran of WWII and very proud to be an American.

It is Americans like John McCain who are the heroes who make our democracy the envy of the world. How can anyone cast aspersions on him?

For a so-called “gentleman,” who did not serve because he had a “bone spur” in a foot (he doesn’t remember which one)to cast the aspersions is particularly inappropriate.

Bull cookies! He owes us all an apology for that comment.
