Recently traveling the full extent of the tree felling area up I-26 to Columbia I was shocked to see the result. And, no, just for the record, I’m no tree hugger.
The median resembles a carpet-bombed war zone, craters and all. Stripped naked. It’s shameful. Even worse it’s tragic. For what? Why?
Given the opportunity to speak, South Carolinians would have voted a hundred to nothing to leave the trees standing tall and proud.
To loosely paraphrase Joyce Kilmer, any fool can plunder roots free, but only God can make a tree.
