The May 3 editorial stating that tree lovers’ voices are being heard is highly inaccurate. I don’t believe that a public outcry has made any difference in the denuding of trees along I-26.

The “compromise” is not a victory for tree lovers. The Department of Transportation is oblivious to citizens’ voices and the agency should be held accountable.

And how about SCE&G’s slashing of trees in suburban neighborhoods? With all the complaints, nothing has changed. The only victory I’m aware of is Angel Oak.

Wake up, Charleston. Our precious old trees are fast disappearing. Unless you love urban sprawl and cement, this is very sad indeed.
