I say to our political candidates running to represent their parties in the upcoming elections — stop the foolish, childish behavior unbecoming to a person who desires to be commander in chief of the United States armed forces. You are embarrassing us in front of our allies.

In 18 years of honorable service in the U.S. Marine Corps, I have learned that our system of government is not perfect, but better than many others. We do not settle our squabbles with murder, mayhem, machetes, bombs and bullets.

We settle our problems through voting. The talking season, how we refer to this political cycle, has gone stark raving nuts. It is now filled with insults, schoolyard bullying, racist and sexist comments, making America look silly to others. Grow up, children.

The Republican candidates with their rhetoric and antics would drive an old breed NCO like myself to drinking Drano. This is America and we can agree to disagree.

Grow up. Act accordingly if you are qualified and chosen, otherwise, you are dismissed. Fall out.
