The College of Charleston student who wrote urging support for Sen. Bernie Sanders is missing a crucial point. Everything of value has a cost.

Out-of-state tuition is expensive. If an earned academic scholarship of $25,000 and a federal work study job are not enough to avoid “an unsettling amount of debt,” it might be prudent for her to reconsider her college choice in pursuit of her passion.

Taxpayers, students and parents who pay full tuition are already subsidizing her academic pursuits.
