I doubt that there are very many adults who don’t know Percy Sledge’s biggest hit “When A Man Loves A Woman.” It is a classic among classics.

Not so many, though, know that his 1996 CD “Blue Night” (now out of print) yielded the shag hit “Love Comes Knockin’” and was nominated for a Grammy.

In 2004 Percy, who died last week, released a great soul album “Shining Through The Rain” containing two more shag hits — “24 7 365” and “Big Blue Diamonds.”

The song he is known for is great, but Percy Sledge made many outstanding recordings in his long career.
