It’s popular for the media to interview college students about civics, history or politics. The most recent video I saw took place on the campus of Texas Tech University, where students were asked such things as “Who won the Civil War?”, “Who is the vice president?” and “From whom did we gain our independence?”

Almost none could answer these questions, yet they correctly answered questions regarding Brad Pitt or “Jersey Shore.”

Students come out of high school like this. That truth illustrates the corrosive effect of long-term government control over local school systems. Students have been taught to be morons.

My fear is that they are too stupid even to be angry about how they have essentially been socially promoted through high school and robbed of an education. Schools have finally been dumbed down to the point where even the most ignorant will no longer feel deprived of knowledge.
