The politicians in Columbia need to go ahead and pass the 10-cents a gallon gas tax this year instead of fighting each other over what is good for them, instead of the taxpayer.

Income tax reduction would be good, but the 1.1 million who don’t pay taxes need to pay their fair share. This is why we need a fair tax, then everyone will pay a share on everything they buy. Charleston County Councilman Dickie Schweers is already wanting to dip into the gas tax fund to dredge the waterway. Raise the fees for cruise ships and cargo ships for that, not the road tax.

The lottery has millions in unclaimed funds every year. One percent of that money should be used for roads that the taxpayers are paying into.
