I understand that the Confederate flag stands as a symbol of our heritage at the Statehouse.

The only thing it stands for with me is a Confederate battle flag. It belongs in a museum where people can study it closely and choose to attach their own meaning to it.

In many ways, it’s a flag of division. Is division the symbol we want other states to identify us by? No! Especially now that many other Southern states have, since the hate- filled shootings, voluntarily removed their Confederate flags. It’s all about the image.

Take it down.
