Congratulations to The Post and Courier for its call for independent review of legislative ethics complaints in the South Carolina General Assembly.

It is unfortunate the concept of legislators disciplining (or not) one another on ethics issues is still a bizarre conversation in the General Assembly.

The Post and Courier has an excellent suggestion. Should the General Assembly fail to approve independent oversight, the issue should be put on the ballot. Indeed, let the voters take a shot at solving the problem upon which some legislators are perfecting their shuffling-of-feet routine.
