In regard to your recent story “Senate passes proviso allowing victims fund to help with police body cams,” I’d like to get something straight. They want to redirect monies designated for victims services to buy video cameras to record what? Hundreds of routine encounters between law enforcement and citizens?
Law enforcement victim advocate programs, sexual assault nurse examiners, rape crisis centers, domestic violence shelters — they are all in need of the funds that this proviso would redirect. It’s just not right — oh, and it’s not the current legal intent of the monies unless this proviso remains unopposed. What can you do? Call your senator.
