I am one of a large community of artists in Mount Pleasant. In addition to painters, there are photographers, potters, jewelers and crafters.
We have needed an art center for a long time, but in 2003 we were told by the town that we would have to wait until the infrastructure project was completed. It is now our turn.
The Trident Academy building, which is to be sold, would be an ideal place for an art center. The town could purchase this building without having to build a new structure, and nearby residents would not be negatively impacted by new construction, traffic, etc.
I urge my fellow artists to make their wishes known to Mayor Linda Page and town council members.
