The mayoral forum held Feb. 23 gave over 150 attendees a chance to articulate their views on many of the challenges facing the Holy City.

It provided an attempt to honor the idea that democracy can truly work only with an involved and informed citizenry. Several of the candidates were in attendance.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, now considering a run for our highest office, said it best at a brief meeting: “I wish this idea could be replicated elsewhere.”

Now the burden of addressing the problems will fall on the shoulders of the person who is elected our next mayor. It is up to all of us to be involved and to insist on accountability.
