The tragedy of the church shooting is a terrible thing. A young man took the lives of innocent people. There is so much racism affecting not only black and white, but Hispanics. Persons with both physical and mental challenges face discrimination. Bullying in schools and gangs is on the rise. Social media inviting students to cut class and join in vandalism and theft are not what the residents want. That trouble is now coming to our state. Already the vandalism has started. That’s not what we are about.

As South Carolinians, we need to show that we are human beings and Christians coming together, holding hands, standing in church and proud of who we are. Compassionate and forgiving — let’s start the healing.
