What Charlestonian would have ever thought that hammocks would be dangled from the lovely oaks in Hampton Park or White Point Garden? What is next? Tents? Camping sites? ATVs running all over the acreage?
Marion Square has already been turned over to sunbathers, so it has been surrendered to the inconsiderate.
To think that anyone would tie hammocks to our lovely trees in our beautiful downtown parks is unthinkable. Those who blight our parks deserve no quarter.
Damage to the trees may be an issue, but far more is the lack of respect for people who live here and tourists who come to see the beauty of Charleston’s parks.
Kick them out and fine them.
