I never have liked paying for something I haven’t gotten, but SCE&G thinks the pay-as-you-build plan will save money in building new nuclear units north of Columbia.

I am not in favor of constructing any nuclear plants or their units until the problem of nuclear waste is properly solved.

This waste normally is stored underground or in special buildings after being placed in metal containers. The waste is dangerous and hard to do get rid of. The waste can last hundreds of years, and in the meantime the barrels leak, more deep holes are dug, more expensive buildings must be built, more guards must be hired and people must be protected. There are other ways to secure the energy we need.
