Two articles in the Feb. 12 Post and Courier related to violent crime caught my attention. One was headlined, “Man gets 30 years in fatal shooting.” The second, “30-year sentence in armed robbery.”
The fatal shooting was described as a drug deal gone wrong. Odd phraseology since the converse is that illegal drug activity can be right. The robbery involved a gas station attendant being hit in the head twice with a baseball bat before the robber took money from the register. Both criminals were sentenced to 30 years. Is this what our court system calls equal justice under the law? Go figure.
