I was glad to see that the FCC will try to do something about junk calls, but I’m not holding my breath until the practice is stopped.

This is an opportunity for a manufacturer to make some money by producing a device that blocks these calls. If somebody gets a junk call, he could press a button messaging a central location that this is an unwanted call.

If a phone number is reported 10 times in two hours, a signal would block calls from that number on every device.

A provision could be made for callers from unknown numbers to identify themselves or leave messages. Those who hack or spoof the system and make it appear the call is coming from another number, would be fined.

I would allow 10 calls in two hours because I would not want to block someone who is confused and having trouble dialing or someone whose kid is playing with the phone.
