The Washington based Institute for Justice has a totally incorrect concept of the role of a tour guide.
A tour guide is a representative of the City of Charleston and a presenter of facts, not just a person “telling stories about Charleston.”
Anyone who makes a presentation of any kind to any group must know the facts, and to do that you must learn them.
Anyone in business is required to buy a business license. It is absurd to state that taking a test and buying a business license is violating freedom of speech.
Our standards are high because that is what Charleston deserves, and they should remain that way.
Anyone not interested in maintaining these standards can get another job.
