In the Feb. 20 article by David Wren titled “As union talks recedes, Boeing seeks ‘healthy workforce strategy.’ ” I was disappointed to see no mention of “health” as it applies to medical health.
Recently, I twice encountered a visibly ill (cold/flu) employee at the local grocery store. Two times this particular store, which touts “excellent customer service,” exposed its customers and employees to a highly contagious disease.
I spoke with the manager and was told that he “can’t tell employees to go home.” The employees have told me that they fear for their jobs should they call in sick. This culture of fear does not promote a healthy workforce.
