One of the many homeless people living under the Arthur Ravenel Bridge was being interviewed by one of our local TV stations recently and was asked the question, “Why can’t you find a job?” Her response was, “I can’t find a job without an address, and I can’t have an address without a job.” This turned a light on in my head. There have to be well over 200 churches in our local area. If each church would “adopt” one homeless person, nurture him and give him a place to stay until he is able to live on his own, it would go a long way to help alleviate our homeless problem in the Charleston area.

I hope local church leaders will take this to heart and really practice what they preach.
