A letter writer in the May 24 Post and Courier lamented being asked to identify himself while stopped by a police officer near an Outback restaurant.
Several years ago a friend, a retired physician, commented about a similar incident while stopped near his dry cleaners.
I pointed out that he was just as close to the bank in the same area, and he was headed toward the bank and away from his dry cleaners. Odds are that the letter writer was as close to the bank as he was to the Outback.
Mount Pleasant police are charged with verifying the identities of drivers of vehicles stopped near banks with their motors running.
Well done, officer.
