Folly Beach traffic, crowds, litter and noise are certainly frustrating for island residents.
There is another side effect to the beach’s overpopularity — Charleston County residents are frustrated that we can’t enjoy Folly either.
Some of my favorite restaurants are there as well as the great pier and county park. Braving traffic with no certainty of being able to park or finding a spot to enjoy the beach discourages many of us from going.
In the words of the immortal Yankee catcher and philosopher, Yogi Berra, “Nobody goes there any more. It’s too crowded.”
