The Town of Mount Pleasant was one of the first municipalities to adopt a “no texting while driving law” in South Carolina. One year after implementation, I read in amazement that only a small handful (I think four) tickets had been issued for violating that law.
At every stoplight, not almost every stoplight, but at every stoplight there are people texting in nearly every vehicle. In masses, they text and drive with no attempt to conceal their actions as if there were no law at all.
I have a tall 4x4 truck and I have seen a school bus driver texting while kids were in the vehicle. This is spiraling out of control. Why act as pioneers by adopting a great law and not enforce it?
