If you had gone to the Charleston County Public Library auditorium on July 14 around 11 o’clock in the morning, you would have been greeted by a delightfully cacophonous symphony of marshland sounds.

Natalie Daise, most well-known for her role on the children’s TV show “Gullah Gullah Island,” performed “Comeyah Tales” — a series of interactive stories that had the entire audience singing, laughing and clapping along.

Ms. Daise’s vibrant and engaging personality helped illustrate the richness of Gullah culture, and her stories not only entertained but also relayed a powerful message — we share a bond of hope and strength that allows us to persevere through life’s struggles.

It is through small, daily efforts, like Natalie Daise’s storytelling and other library programs put on by the Charleston County Public Library, that the Charleston community can grow and heal in times of turmoil.
