Secretary of State John Kerry’s comment that Israel may get the blame if Congress overturns the nuclear agreement with Iran is despicable and shameful. It is a bullying threat and beneath the dignity of his office.

Such a statement sets up Israel and, by extension, Jews as the convenient scapegoat for the agreement’s failure, and echoes Nazi Germany’s rant that the country’s problems are the fault of the Jews.

I hope our country isn’t being led into the same downward spiral that resulted in state-sponsored anti-Semitism in the 1930s.
