As a commuter from Wadmalaw Island to Mount Pleasant, I run the gamut of traffic each day. Anyone who travels the same route daily can tell you that due to our already insufficient infrastructure, any small disruption in the traffic flow can create major backups.
The bike lane experiment across the Ashley River Bridge is creating significant delays during rush-hour traffic.
I appreciate the desire for better access to the peninsula for walkers and bicyclists, but this is simply a case of a vocal minority creating major headaches for everyone else.
With hordes of people moving to the Charleston area, we need more and better infrastructure. Creating a bottleneck on a major artery through downtown is not a valid answer.
