I’m presenting a brief rebuttal to “Enough Guns?” printed in the Dec. 13 Post and Courier.

The letter’s main anti-gun argument against an “armed society deterring bad people” was that “many citizens now legally carry and even conceal their firearms, yet no one has been in the right place at the right time [to avert mass shootings and] validate this theory.”

This is flawed logic at best since a number of these mass shootings have taken place in gun-free zones that prohibit law-abiding citizens from being armed.

They do, however, provide comforting reassurance to the bad guys that little or no armed resistance will be encountered.

It’s time for all Americans to wake up to the fact we are at war and need to be prepared to make hard decisions regarding security and safety.
