Congratulations to Doug Pardue, Glenn Smith, Jennifer Berry Hawes and Natalie Caula Hauff and The Post and Courier for capturing the Polk Award in Journalism, a well-deserved accolade for the newspaper’s courageous series on domestic abuse.

In my eyes, as a lifelong journalist, the Polk Award carries at least the stature of a Pulitzer. The reporting and editing that created the series, not to mention the relentless followup, have distinguished the Post and Courier.
