The family of Susie Jackson (Emanuel AME Church victim) wishes to express our sincere thanks to the citizens of Charleston, Mayor Joseph P. Riley Jr., Gov. Nikki Haley, local agencies and service organizations, as well as the police and fire departments for the abundance of sympathy expressed to the Jackson Family during a tragic event. We appreciate the kindness shown our family as we lay to rest our family matriarch, Susie Jackson.
Susie Jackson was fortunate to live in this beautiful city of Charleston with a kind and generous community. Despite the tragedy of the Emanuel Nine, we find comfort in knowing that the many neighboring churches, community and civic organizations as well as the media outlets represented the life and legacy of Susie Jackson in a respectful manner that properly honored and represented her life’s work.
Thank you, again, Charleston for your warm hospitality. We pray that the love demonstrated in this Charleston community permeates throughout the nation and will continue to bring unity among all humankind. The Jackson family deeply appreciates every expression of love and sympathy.
