SUMMERVILLE — Authorities say they have a man in custody after someone robbed a dry cleaning business in the Oakbrook Shopping Center this morning.

Summerville Police and Dorchester County Sheriff's deputies responded to Oakbrook Dry Cleaners and established a wide perimeter in the area shortly after receiving the robbery call about 7:25 a.m.

Someone entered the store shortly after it opened and implied they had a weapon, Dorchester County Sheriff's Maj. John Garrison said. The man grabbed the cash and ran toward Summerville.

Officers searched the area around Midland Parkway and Old Trolley Road until they found a suspect behind a house on Spring Meadows Drive, just off Beverly Drive.

The man fought with officers, who eventually took him into custody, Garrison said.

He said the investigation is continuing and the man has not been charged with any crime at this time.

Officers were using dogs two hours later to search the area for money and a possible weapon, he said.
