CLEMSON – Eight Clemson athletic teams recorded collective 3.0 GPAs in the fall semester including the first on record by the men’s basketball team (3.13), according to Clemson.

The overall GPA for all student athletics was 2.94, the second best on record. The record is 2.97 in for spring semester of 2009. The women’s swimming team led all sports with a 3.55 GPA.

Football had a 2.49 GPA, the lowest among Clemson teams. However, Dabo Swinney led all coaches in Academic Progress Rating last year.,

The following are the other team GPAs: baseball (2.94), women’s basketball (2.74), men’s cross country (3.11), women’s cross country (3.46), golf (3.09), rowing (3.23), men’s soccer (2.92), women’s soccer (3.07), men’s swimming (2.92), men’s tennis (3.01), women’s tennis (2.74), men’s track (2.54), women’s track (2.64), volleyball (2.99).

“We are once again very pleased with this report,” said Clemson athletic director Terry Don Phillips said in a release. “Becky Bowman and the staff at Vickery Hall are to be commended because we are seeing consistent excellence in this area and it carries over to the APR and graduation rate reports.”
