SPARTANBURG — President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign has hired a director for South Carolina.
The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported that the campaign confirmed it has hired Lee Goodall to direct its efforts in the Palmetto State.
Goodall served as a campaign field director in Georgia in 2008 and has served as that state’s director for Organizing for America, a field operation that works with the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
Last week, five Republicans looking to challenge Obama met in South Carolina for the first GOP debate of the 2012 presidential race.
South Carolina plans to hold the first-in-the-South presidential primary.
Republican U.S. Sen. John McCain carried the Palmetto State over Obama, 54-45 percent.
