North Augusta City Council to consider alcohol ordinance, Riverview Park gyms

North Augusta municipal building

City Council will meet at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the municipal building for the study session and council meeting.

North Augusta City Council will be getting an update on Riverside Village, as well as voting to amend the public consumption ordinance and allocate more money for the two new gyms at Riverview Park on Monday.

During a study session before their regularly scheduled meeting, Council will hear from James Dean, from Greenestone Properties, about the progress of Riverside Village.

During their regularly scheduled meeting, Council will vote on an amendment to Section 4.1 of the City's Code of Laws.

The section will be deleted entirely and replaced with new language that would allow for public alcohol consumption at Riverside Village.

The ordinance was previously amended in October of last year to allow consumption of alcohol at city sponsored events with a permit granted by the City Administrator.

Council will also vote whether or not to allocate $93,000 of additional funding for the construction of gyms 5 and 6 at Riverview Park Activities Center. The resolution states the additional funding is to pay for landscaping, sidewalks, CSRA Testing and Engineering, irrigation work, turnstiles and an intercom system. The reception desk and entry plaza would both be enlarged as well.

The additional funding would come from the Capital Projects Fund.

Finally, Council will vote on a resolution authorizing a water tank attachment lease agreement between the City and T-Mobile South LLC.

The lease agreement is for the Sidereal Avenue water tank, and includes space on the water tank as well as ground space.

City Council will meet for a study session Monday, Feb. 19, at 6 p.m. on the third floor of the Municipal building at 100 Georgia Ave., and at 7 p.m. for the regularly scheduled meeting.
