Amy Hane, a more than 25 year resident of the CSRA and member of the North Augusta and Aiken Chamber of Commerce, has been awarded the “Voice of Public Health Award” by the South Carolina Public Health Association.

Amy is the owner of Long Term Liaisons, an aging life care management company that offers decision expertise and supportive care options to families of elderly and disabled individuals in order to enhance their quality of life. This healthcare field is especially important with the wave of Baby Boomers aging rapidly across the United States. What is worthy of recognition is Amy’s preparedness and swift problem-solving as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic. It does not come as a surprise to most public health professionals that nursing homes and assisted living facilities had some of the highest infection and mortality rates. Early on in the year, Amy acknowledged empirical and statistical epidemiological patterns of communicable disease transmission, which prompted the establishment of precautions for all of her clientele (patients and staff) so there would be a diminished risk of contagion, as Amy recognizes that the geriatric community is more susceptible to infection. We were impressed by her awareness and sensitivity to the upcoming pandemic, as it saved many lives. Job well done!

Amy received her Bachelor of Science degree and her Master’s of Social Work from the University of South Carolina. She worked in the areas of mental health and hospice prior to working in home health and care management. It was in her role as a Home Health social worker that she gained an extensive knowledge of the long term health care arena and realized that much of our aging population and their caregivers struggle with how to make decisions related to care and in turn she founded Long Term Liaisons, LLC in 2011. Her background has helped her develop much experience of in-home care services, assisted living communities, nursing homes, long term care insurance, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the Veterans Administration, and additional resources necessary to educate and empower her clients and their families.

She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and an Advanced Professional Member of the Aging Life Care Association. She is a licensed Master Social Worker in South Carolina and Georgia and is a Certified Advanced Social Work Case Manager.
