Daniel and Amber are hard workers. They collectively work three jobs to provide for their disabled baby boy Peter and meet all of his medical needs. Recently, however, Amber’s hours at work were drastically cut. Even though Daniel works one full-time and one part-time job, both he and Amber barely make above minimum wage. With their collective income, the family is still considered to be “working poor” and live paycheck to paycheck.

With Amber’s paychecks being cut nearly in half, the couple got behind in their utilities and low on food.

Through your donations to the Good Cheer Fund, The Salvation Army will be able to help pay for their water bill, provide food, register the family for emergency food stamps through The Benefit Bank of South Carolina and provide referrals for employment readiness programs.

Contributions to The Post and Courier’s Good Cheer Fund have helped the less fortunate in the Lowcountry since 1927. The six charitable organizations sharing the funds collected are the Lowcountry Food Bank, the Salvation Army, Star Gospel Mission, the Association for the Blind, Coastal Catholic Charities and Carolina Youth Development Center. Every cent of the money goes directly to the agencies, as there are no administrative costs involved.

Send tax-deductible contributions to the Good Cheer Fund, c/o The Post and Courier, 134 Columbus St., Charleston, SC 29403-4800. Donations also can be made in person or online at www.goodcheerfund.com.
