Police are investigating a shooting that left a 35-year-old man dead alongside a North Charleston road.

Officers were called shortly after 3 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a body lying near the driveway of 7800 Northside Drive, said Scott Deckard, a North Charleston Police Department deputy chief. The road runs along Interstate 26.

Jonathan Spitler, 35, died at the scene, according to the Charleston County Coroner's Office.
