Charleston police are investigating a West Ashley homicide.
A 59-year-old woman was found shot to death in her bedroom at 958 Orange Grove Road today, according to police spokesman Charles Francis.
The woman’s parents, who live in Columbia and usually talk to their daughter every day, called police about 5 p.m. asking for a welfare check, Francis said. The parents said they had not spoken to their daughter in a couple of days and were worried.
The parents drove to Charleston and met officers at the house. Officers entered the house and found that the woman had been shot to death, Francis said.
Detectives believe the victim knew the person who shot her, Francis said.
