A man robbed a woman in a restaurant parking lot Wednesday in North Charleston after she agreed to buy crack cocaine from him, authorities said.

The robbery occurred about 10:35 a.m. at the McDonald's at 3710 Rivers Ave., near McMillan Avenue.

The woman told investigators she was in her vehicle when a man approached her and asked if she wanted to buy crack cocaine, said Spencer Pryor, North Charleston police public information officer.

She agreed and let the man inside her vehicle, where they argued over the amount of the drug.

When she refused to buy it, the man pulled out a gun, demanded $20 and her cell phone and ran toward the St. Charles Place Apartments, Pryor said.

Officers swarmed the scene but could not find the suspect.

Officers talking on police radios described the suspect as a young, black male wearing a black jacket with graphics on it, blue jean shorts and a blue shirt. He was reportedly seen pulling the jacket off as he ran from the parking lot.

Pryor said no charges have been filed against the woman at this time.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
