Authorities are investigating an apparent murder-suicide Saturday in Eutawville.
A man shot a woman to death outside a convenience store, drove to his house, kissed his mother, and then killed himself, Orangeburg County authorities said today.
Coroner Samuetta Marshall identified the man as Kenneth Burch, 53, and the woman as Anngenette Shaw, 42.
Eutawville is a rural community near Lake Marion northwest of Moncks Corner.
Shaw was shot outside Strick’s One Stop on Old Number Six Highway in Eutawville about 6:20 p.m. Saturday, according to Sheriff Leroy Ravenell. She and Burch were talking with each other by their vehicles when Burch shot her, Ravenell said.
After fatally shooting Shaw, Burch drove about a mile and a half to his house on Oilers Drive, according to the sheriff. Burch walked to his mother’s house next door, kissed her, went back in his house and shot himself about 6:30 p.m.
Both victims died of gunshot wounds, Marshall said. An autopsy was being conducted today.
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate.
