A North Charleston woman is accused of driving under the influence when she was involved in a crash that killed a motorcyclist Saturday night in Hanahan, police say.

Lauren Anne Nolen, 40, of Shadow Oak Drive, is charged with felony DUI resulting in death and having an open container of alcohol, jail records show. She is jailed on $50,257 bail.

Hanahan Police Deputy Chief Michael Fowler said Nolen was the driver of a Honda that collided with a motorcycle on Railroad Avenue near Trident Technical College. The wreck occurred at 7:05 p.m.

The motorcyclist, identified as 22-year-old Bryon Bouton Leatherwood, was ejected and died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

Further details about the crash were not released Sunday. S.C. Highway Patrol is assisting with the investigation.
