A robbery victim was arrested today at a bond hearing for the North Charleston man accused of holding him up.
The bond hearing was for Darnell Seagers, 22, who was on house arrest awaiting a murder trial when he was arrested again on the robbery charge.
Joshua LaChance, 22, of Ashley Hall Road, told detectives Seager robbed him at gunpoint on Ashley Hall Road Aug. 30, according to the affidavit filed in court.
But when Magistrate Linda Lombard asked LaChance if he had anything to say before setting Seagers’ bail today, LaChance denied he had ever seen Seagers before.
Lombard halted the bond hearing until the detectives arrived. When they got there, they handcuffed LaChance and took him away.
LaChance was charged with conspiracy to violate the state’s narcotic statute, police spokesman Charles Francis said. Police believe Seagers robbed LaChance while he was trying to buy drugs from Seagers, he said.
Lombard denied bail for Seagers on the robbery charge and set bail at $100,000 on a charge of possession of a firearm during commission of a violent crime.
LaChance will have his own bond hearing at 2 p.m. Thursday.
