Mount Pleasant Mayor Billy Swails said a decision could come this afternoon on whether to reschedule the annual Blessing of the Fleet.
The 23rd annual event and associated seafood festival was canceled Sunday because of poor weather conditions. The National Weather Service had issued a small craft warning earlier in the day.
Swails said he wanted to meet with town staffers and festival representatives about rescheduling, including possibly holding the festival as far off as the month of June. He called it a good economic event for the area and the industry.
The gathering had been scheduled for Memorial Waterfront Park at the foot of the Arthur Ravenel Bridge.
