SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The U.S. Department of Agriculture has cleared a Spartanburg County animal park where more than two dozen animals died in a fire earlier this month.

The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported that the USDA visited the Hollywild Animal Park in Inman on Monday.

The visit came after the Jan. 9 fire that killed 28 animals in the primate barn.

Kim Atchley with Hollywild told the newspaper the report found no problems at the park. Atchley said areas cited in USDA investigations last February and March have long since been corrected.

The park plans to open on weekends in March and will open daily beginning April 1.
